Incheon Airport transit tours

Incheon runs short guided tours for transit passengers, from temples and markets near the airport to trips into Seoul. Register at the Transit Tour desk on the 1st floor of Terminal 1 (near gates 1 and 2) or Terminal 2, at least 30 minutes before the tour. Seats are first come, first served, and you must be able to enter Korea.

Just changing planes? Do you need a visa at ICN?

International connections at Incheon stay airside with no Korean visa needed for any passport.

Changing terminals

If your flights use different terminals, an airside shuttle train runs from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 for transfer passengers with an onward boarding pass. The shuttle bus, AREX train and taxis are landside and mean entering Korea.

Going on to a domestic flight

Domestic flights mostly leave from Gimpo, a different airport, so connecting to them means entering Korea: a visa for Nepali passports, and the 30-day transit entry or a visa for Indian passports.

Separate tickets (self-transfer)

On separate tickets you usually need to collect your bags and check in again, which means entering Korea.

How long to allow

Allow at least 60 minutes in the same terminal, more between terminals.

Airport transit visa by passport

None of the 16 passports we cover needs a visa to change planes airside at ICN, on one booking with your bags checked through. Entering the country, for a terminal change through immigration, a domestic flight or separate tickets, follows the rules in the table above.

60 mineach way to the main sights
2 hback at the airport before departure
6.5 hminimum layover for 90 minutes outside

With an hour each way, you need about 8 hours for a worthwhile trip into Seoul. On shorter layovers, a transit tour near the airport works better.
